Instragram addicted to use of ‘Hookah’
As per the study, Instagram’s focus on images facilities pictures,which are based on advertising
The use of Hookah has increased in the US and being promoted through the Instagram media as per a study.
Hookah usage as increased as the cigarette usage decreased between 2005 and 2015 in the US, found during the study conducted by researchers from the University of Southern California (USC).
In Instragram advertising pictures, where hookah lounges promote drink specials at the same time nightclubs promote hookah specials.
Tess Boley Cruz, Professor said, “ Instagram users will see pictures of their family and friends having a great time together in social settings, where the hookah use is a focus.
Between February 19 and May 19, 2016, more than 5,000 posts on Instagram has hashtag ‘hookah’ analysed by researchers.
The study declared that this were the key features for the promotion of hookah lounges, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, where quarter half of people lounging and using a hookah.
The researchers analysed more than 5,000 posts on Instagram between February 19 and May 19, 2016, by combining the hashtag 'hookah'.
The study noted that more than a third were promotional material for hookah lounges, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, while a quarter depicted people lounging and using a hookah.
Researchers did not find promotional material discouraging hookah use in their data.
The study stated on the control of tobacco usage, researchers to develop programmes to bring out positive imagery and normalization of hookah use on Instagram.
