Celebrate the spirit of Emirati Women!
Emirati Women’s Day is celebrated to boost the recognition of women in the region and to highlight their role in the community. This day was launched by HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, President of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
This year marks the third time to a bigger movement to increase women empowerment in the Middle East. The same marks for the anniversary of the creation of the UAE’s General Women’s Union in 1975.
“70 per cent of university graduates are women. This reflects an ongoing process to strengthen the role of women in society.” Says His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The contribution by Emirati Women to UAE’s growth is evident- from military, police, technology, banking, and entrepreneurship. In every aspect of nation-building, Emirati women set the standards to applaud for. About 85 per cent of the entire office work is normally done by Emirati women in Middle East. Women are the very important part of a country. None can be achieved without them.
During the first Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated in 2015, women in the Middle East were awarded for their role in the sustainable development of the country. This celebration proves the concept of women’s empowerment is no longer a philosophical theory but a reality.
