8 Bollywood Remakes we can’t wait for.
List includes Subhash Ghai hits, Khalnayak & Ram Lakhan!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is just about to release the magnum opus Bajirao Mastani, has already planned his next project. We have heard that Bhansali is planning to make a remake of 1993 hit Khalnayak. In regards to this, Subhash Ghai confirmed meeting Bhansali over lunch and demanding around 9 crore for selling the rights.
Ghai meanwhile has already sold the remake rights of his other blockbuster Ram Lakhan to Karan Johar. The remake will be directed by Rohit Shetty.
So while one hand Bollywood is producing original content in form of PRDP, the other side of the B Town is looking at the remakes, its upon us – the audience, which one we choose to give our Love & Money! Let's take a look at the upcoming lot.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project depends on his willingness to pay a whopping 9 crores for the rights to Subhash Ghai for Khalnayak. The starcast hasn’t yet been spoken about, but we would love to see the bratty Ranveer Singh in the pivotal role played by Sanjay Dutt in the original.
2. Ram Lakhan
The Student Of The Year duo Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra will essay the title role in Karan Johar's version of the 1989 film. We have learnt, Varun will play younger brother Lakhan, while Sid will reprise the elder one Ram. Rumours say that Athiya Shetty might also be a part of the project.
3. Khoon Bhari Maang
A remake of the Rakesh Roshan's 1988 thriller which was an adaptation from the Australian mini-series Return To Eden is under consideration. Deepika Padukone is said to have been approached to play the character of lead actress Rekha.
4. Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi
It wouldn’t be too difficult to guess who would be directing this one, considering the title includes ‘Gaadi’!! Rohit Shetty plans to direct his own version of the 1958 Kishore Kumar-Madhubala starrer film, with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai reprising the lead roles. While SRK-Ash will team up together after 12 years since Devdas, its apparent that Shetty’s love for SRK is just growing by the day!
5. Doosra Aadmi
This KJo film has already generated enough buzz with its casting that includes Aishwarya Rai, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan. Wondering what we talking about, this remake of the 1977 film is called Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, yes that's the remake! Ranbir is slipping into the shoes of his father Rishi Kapoor and Ash will play Rakhee's role in the remake of the Yash Chopra film.
Manish Paul has replaced the original choice Sohum Shah as the lead actor in this Khalid Mohamed's remake of the 1983 cult classic. Manish will play the role of veteran actor Farooq Shaikh. The film also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Sharmila Mandre.
The Indian version of the Hollywood horror film will feature real-life siblings Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem. The film revolves around a brother and sister trying to fight a murderous spirit. We got to know that a Hollywood team has flown to India and is closely working with an Indian unit on the remake. It will be involved with everything, from scripting to filming and post-production. Outsourcing at its best! ;)
8. The Man From Nowhere
The Bollywood remake of the 2010 Korean film is titled Rocky Handsome. Directed by Nishikant Kamath, the action-thriller stars John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in lead roles.
While we wait for these films, recent films like Brothers (remake of Warrior – 2011), Tevar (Okkadu – 2003), Mr. X (Unofficial remake of Hollow Man) and Hero (Hero 1983) were also remakes. Although none of these fared well at the box office, we can only hope for the best with these upcoming films!
Which of these Remakes are you looking forward to?
