Bollywood to welcome 13 new faces in 2016
2015 gave us some massive hits from relatively new faces and on the other hand the big stars failed to impress. We also saw a bunch of new faces making it to the silver screen, from Athiya Shetty, Sooraj Pancholi, Akshara Haasan to Bhumi Pednekar, Karan Singh Grover and Kapil Sharma. While audiences welcomed some with open arms, many others went unnoticed in their debut films all together. And as the New Year rings in, aspirations are already soaring for many more newbies who are set to enter films in the coming months. Here's a look at who is gearing up for their Bollywood debut this year.
1. Harshvardhan Kapoor
The Youngest Chiraag of the Kapoor Khandan is by far the most awaited fresh face of 2016. Dad Anil Kapoor's good looks and the charm of sister Sonam, Harshvardhan will be making a grand entry with Rakyesh Omprekash Mehra's Mirziya. Harshvardhan assisted Anurag Kashyap in Bombay Velvet. And going by the first look of his debut film, one thing is sure, this 25-year-old is hot and set to walk away with all the female adulation.
2. Mahira Khan
After making waves back home in Pakistan, she is set to make a mark on this side of border too. And with a dream debut in Raees opposite Shah Rukh Khan, half the battle seems won. This exotic beauty from Pakistan, has already won Indian hearts with her blockbuster TV shows like Humsafar and films like Bol. She is one face to look out for.
3. Sayesha Saigal
After her big debute in Telugu film Akhil opposite Mahesh Babu, the grand-niece of veteran actress Saira Banu, Sayesha now is ready for her big Bollywood launch opposite Ajay Devgn in Shivaay. And we can sense Sayesha has some major talent rolled up her sleeves. Good luck girl!
4. Saiyami Kher
With the backing of her aunts Shabana Azmi and Tanvi Azmi, Saiyami looks quite a bet. A former Kingfisher calendar girl, she made her debut with Telugu film Rey in 2014. Now she is setting foot in Hindi films romancing Harshvardhan in Mirziya.
5. Gautam Gulati
After getting massive publicity in the previous edition of Bigg Boss, Gautam's magnanimous fan base will do wonders for him when he debuts in Mohammad Azharuddin's biopic Azhar. We have seen his killer looks and ripped body. Now we will see his acting skills too. Hopefully he won't disappoint.
6. Pooja Hegde
You get bragging points and a few hundred likes for your selfie with him, wonder what would happen if you debut opposite Bollywood's Greek God Hrithik Roshan, you are sure to hog headlines. The second runner-up in the Miss Universe India 2010 beauty pageant, Pooja has been a part of Tamil and Telugu films for a while. Now she will enter Bollywood with Ashutosh Gowariker's mega project Mohenjo Daro. Can one be any luckier?
7. Ritika Singh
Her punches in Saala Khadoos will be something to look out for. While her counterparts are going petite, Ritika got a sports film for her big debut. Director Rajkumar Hirani had said that the toughest part was finding a female boxer who could act too, and national level boxer Ritika was selected from 100 other athletes. Starring opposite R Madhavan, she perfectly fits the bill with those rough looks and fierce attitude. Way to go!
8. Mawra Hocane
Another Pakistani beauty will be entering Bollywood with an upcoming romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam alongside Harshwardhan Rane. The 23-year old Ranbir Kapoor fan came in spotlight when she received a video message from him last year, where he said he 'hoped to see her soon.' While eyebrows were raised over the message, Mawra later hinted at signing a Bollywood project.
9. Diljit Dosanjh
The Punjabi actor and singer is set to shake the entire nation with his first Bollywood film Udta Punjab which also stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt. And if the makers have chosen him with such established names, it surely hints at his caliber as an actor. We are waiting for him!
10. Waluscha De Sousa
Her face isn't unknown to us. The super model who made a name on the ramp and in the fashion circuit, is set for her Bollywood debut playing SRK's lady love in Fan. Wise decision!
11. Aparshakti Khurranna
The famous RJ from Delhi known for his wit and humour will be entering Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s Dangal. And just for the records, he is actor Ayushmann Khurranna's younger brother. Don't you see the resemblance?
12. Fatima Sana Shaikh and 13. Sanya Malhotra
Aamir Khan doesn't mind working with new faces, we know. So two more newbies in his Dangal cast are Fatima and Sanya, who will be playing Aamir's daughters. While SRK is casting new faces against him, Aamir, for this one has gone the fatherly route for the young ones.
Which of these 13 debutants do you think will be the next Super-Star?
