Here's the first look of Gautam Gulati &Lara Dutta from the upcoming biopic 'Azhar'

Move over the aggressive and “nautanki” winner of Bigg Boss. It’s time to meet the classy, sophisticated and flamboyant Gautam Gulati! Oh yes, the moment that every fan had been waiting for is here- the first look of the favorite Gautam Gulati from his debut flick ‘Azhar’ is out and boy, it looks promising.

Modeled around Ravi Shastri, he would be seen playing the role of Ravish- a cricketer turned commentator. Speaking about his role, Gulati said that he took a two-month workshop to prepare for his role, “You'll see me doing a lot of commentary, so besides the reading sessions I watched a lot of commentating videos as part of the prep. Cricket commentary is not an easy job, it requires presence of mind and impromptu lines. It was great fun.”

While the on-field chemistry between Mohammad Azharuddin (on whom the biopic is based) and Ravi Shastri is known to all, Gautam even spoke about his off-screen chemistry with Emraan Hashmi (who would be playing Azhar). He stated that during the shoot of a pool scene, Emraan complimented the trailer of his show ‘MTV Big F’ (in which Gautam is seen kissing a model), to which the young actor replied “Sir aap se hi seekha hai”.

Lara Dutta who was last seen in an itsy-bitsy role in Abhishek Kapoor's 'Fitoor' will now essay the role of Meera, a public prosecutor in Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Azhar'. We hear that she plays a no-nonsense lawyer who fearlessly stands for the truth and is feared by her peers.

Giving a little insight about her role in the film Lara was quoted saying to a tabloid, "It's a challenging role and I had fun playing it because it's a totally fictional character but integral to the narrative."

Most of her scenes were shot in Hyderabad and few scenes in London. As part of her prep, she spoke to a lawyer friend and observed her at work to understand the body language and the finer nuances of playing the part. She went through all the legal documents pertaining to the case and even had regular reading sessions.

Emraan Hashmi plays the role of the former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin in this Tony D'Souza directorial. The film also stars Prachi Desai as Naureen, Nargis Fakhri as Sangeeta Bijlani and Gautam Gulati as Ravi Shastri.

Well, now here’s another reason to watch ‘Azhar’ which releases in May.
