With the onset of winter now official since December 22, the UAE has experienced an upward swing in the chill factor, with temperatures dipping to 4.9°Celsius on Monday.
Today, NCMS tweeted: "Satellites & hourly meters refer to low clouds over most [of] northern areas."
The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) confirmed a similar weather pattern will continue into the New Year, and Foggy conditions will reduce visibility in parts.
The spokesperson added that January and February are usually the months where the Mercury dips further, with the lowest temperature in the past 10 years recorded in Rakknah again, which reached -1°C in January 2008. While the highest recorded for the same month was 33.6°C in 2013 in Al Rowais.
