Expect more detours and diversions if you're passing through Bur Dubai.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will start carrying out road works on the Shaikh Rashid Road exit starting from Monday, which will continue until February 2017.
In a statement, the authority explained that construction is taking place to improve traffic on Al Shindagha intersection, and to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the area that is usually known for its congestion.
Umm Hurair Road is quite an important route for motorists as the Shaikh Rashid Road exit takes you into Karama, Bur Dubai and also on to Shaikh Zayed Road.
In the opposite direction, motorists use Umm Hurair Road from Al Maktoum Bridge as they head Abu Dhabi-bound.
Once the project is completed, motorists will have a one-lane bridge connecting between Umm Hurair in Bur Dubai and Shaikh Rashid Road.
