India officially moves to Test No. 1 Rank

The Men in Blue didn’t really have a great start of the year 2016 as they were beaten 4-1 in the ODI series against the might Aussies in Australia, but have come back strong in the 1st T20I to beat them in their own backyard.

On the Test front, under Virat Kohli’s leadership India had a good run in 2015 during which they played 9 matches and won 5 of them with just a solitary, including a big 3-0 win at home against the South Africans loss putting them up on the number 2 on the rankings table.

Now after England 2-1 series win over South Africa has ensured that the MRF Tyres ICC Test Match Rankings officially has a new leader, India! Team India is closely followed by Australia & South Africa on the table who are on the 2nd and the 3rd position respectively.

However, Australia embark on a tour to New Zealand in February for two Tests and three ODIs. If Australia win the test series 1-0 or 2-0, they will dethrone India and become the new number one.

If the series is drawn and if New Zealand win by a scoreline of 1-0 or 2-0, then Australia will go down to third or fourth spot while India will hold on to the top spot.

Radio 4, takes this opportunity to congratulate the Indian Cricket Team for becoming World Number 1
