Fined off the field
Team India and Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fined Rs 500 on Tuesday for violating traffic rules.
Ahead of Indian Premier League 2015, Dhoni was seen taking a three-hour ride on his bullet in Ranchi on Monday, without any security.
The vintage bullet BSA Gold Star DBD 34 (MHP-6518), which he rode on the city streets on Monday, violated Motor Vehicle Act guidelines pertaining to display and use of number plate, Ranchi traffic police said on Tuesday.
Traffic SP Kartik S said Dhoni was fined Rs 500 under section122/179 of Motor Vehicle Act in the evening.
Motor Vehicle Act says a vehicle should have its registration number displayed horizontally without obstruction on its rear and front (which is clearly visible). Dhoni's bike did not have its registration number displayed horizontally in the front, instead the number was written on the mudguard of the front wheel which was not visible from the front.
"We had sent the chalan to his house and Dhoni's family paid the fine and said he violated the rules due to ignorance" he added.
