Pakistan suffer an injury blow

The 32 year old Irfan has been ruled out of the world cup after being diagnosed with a pelvic stress fracture. He had also missed the side’s last group stage match against Ireland, at Adelaide.

He had been instrumental in Pakistan’s revival after a disastrous start to their World Cup campaign, after losing first two matches against India and West Indies. He has picked up 7 wickets in the 3 matches since then, which includes a Man-of-the-Match performance against Zimbabwe in their third group stage match.

Mohammad Irfan, at seven-feet one inch, the tallest man to play international cricket, took eight wickets in the five matches he played at the World Cup.
