Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has introduced new school transport rules prioritizing student safety. Children under 15 cannot walk home alone and must be received by a parent, guardian, or elder sibling (with consent). Bus supervisors are mandatory for students under 11, ensuring close monitoring. Cycle 3 students (Grades 9–12, ages 14–18) may travel independently via bicycles, scooters, or non-school transport with parental consent. School buses are exclusively for students, with regulated fees and journeys capped at 60 minutes. Schools must manage traffic, maintain emergency plans, and ensure licensed drivers and supervisors.
