Olympic champion and World Cup winner Crystal Dunn has announced her retirement from professional football, bringing an end to an outstanding career with the US women’s national team. Dunn earned 160 international caps and played a key role in the USA’s 2019 World Cup victory and their 2024 Olympic gold medal. At club level, she won three NWSL titles with North Carolina Courage and Portland Thorns. Known for her versatility, Dunn excelled across midfield, attack, and later as a dependable left-back, becoming a cornerstone of the national defence. One of the first Black stars to break through in US women’s football, she inspired future generations on and off the pitch. Dunn said she leaves the game feeling fulfilled and excited for the next chapter.
