Novak Djokovic admitted he was “extremely lucky” to reach the Australian Open semifinals after Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti retired injured despite leading by two sets. Musetti, the fifth seed, was in control at 6-4, 6-3, 1-3 when he withdrew due to a right leg injury that severely limited his movement. Djokovic, a 10-time Melbourne champion, struggled badly with unforced errors and was outplayed for much of the match before the Italian’s misfortune changed the outcome. The victory keeps alive Djokovic’s bid for a record 25th Grand Slam title. It also marked his 103rd singles win at Melbourne Park and a record-extending 54th Grand Slam semifinal.
