Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed two pedestrian bridges on Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Mina Street as part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, and built six more across key streets. Five of these will open by the end of this year, with one scheduled for early 2027. By 2030, RTA plans to add 23 more pedestrian bridges, based on studies of population growth, tourism, and public transport usage. Pedestrian fatalities have dropped by 97% between 2007 and 2024, while pedestrian and cycling trips have increased by 6% and 5% respectively. The new bridges, designed to international standards, feature bike paths, advanced safety systems, and aesthetic elements to promote sustainable mobility.
