The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has reaffirmed a temporary nationwide ban on drones and light sports aircraft across the United Arab Emirates due to exceptional circumstances. Authorities said the restriction is part of precautionary measures to ensure public safety and maintain secure and controlled airspace.

The ban applies to drones, gliders, paragliders, microlight aircraft, and other light aviation activities, and officials stressed that compliance with the directive is mandatory for everyone. The authority warned that operating any of these aircraft during the restriction period is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action under UAE aviation regulations.

The GCAA urged residents, hobbyists, and recreational drone users to fully respect the restrictions and avoid flying any unmanned or light aircraft until further notice. Authorities said the measure is designed to help maintain safe aviation operations and prevent any disruption to the country’s airspace.

Officials also clarified that only approved aviation activities that are coordinated with the relevant authorities will be permitted during this period.

The aviation authority said it continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with national authorities and will provide updates if there are any changes to the restrictions. Residents are encouraged to follow official channels for accurate information regarding aviation regulations.
