The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that individuals unable to leave the UAE due to recent airspace closures and flight suspensions will be exempt from overstay fines. The decision applies to visitors holding tourist or visit visas, individuals with exit permits, and residents who had cancelled their residency permits in preparation for departure but were unable to travel because of disrupted flights. Authorities confirmed that any overstay fines incurred from February 28, 2026 onward will be waived for those affected by the travel restrictions.

According to the ICP, the measure aims to ensure that travellers impacted by circumstances beyond their control can regularise their legal status without facing financial penalties. The authority also stated that specialised teams have been deployed at airports and Customer Happiness Centres across the country to assist travellers, provide guidance on visa status, and facilitate the necessary procedures under emergency response plans.

Officials emphasised that the decision reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach and its commitment to supporting residents and visitors during exceptional situations. Travellers are encouraged to remain in contact with their airlines and follow official government channels for the latest updates regarding flights, visa status, and travel procedures.
