Rajasthan Royals teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi turned 15 just days ago and celebrated in style with a blistering 15-ball fifty against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Smashing five sixes and four fours, Sooryavanshi’s innings marked the third fifty-plus score of his eight-match IPL career.
Opening alongside India star Yashasvi Jaiswal, he tore into Chennai’s bowling attack during the powerplay, sharing a 75-run stand. He was dismissed for 52 after 17 balls, but Rajasthan sealed a comfortable eight-wicket win in just 12.1 overs, chasing 128.
The match featured a dominant bowling display, with Nandre Burger taking 2-26, supported by Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja, leaving Chennai reeling at 41-4 in the powerplay and eventually bowled out for 127 in 19.4 overs.
Sooryavanshi credited Rajasthan coach Kumar Sangakkara for trusting his attacking instincts. “They told me to read the situation well and back my game,” he said, showcasing poise beyond his years. Rajasthan now prepares to face Gujarat Titans, while Chennai hosts Punjab Kings.
