The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive bonus of $14.24 million (1.31 billion rupees) for the Indian cricket team following their victory at the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The amount is nearly six times the $2.34 million prize money the team received for winning the tournament.

India clinched their historic third T20 World Cup title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. The comprehensive win marked one of India’s most dominant performances in a World Cup final.

The BCCI, widely regarded as the world’s richest cricket board, said the bonus was announced to recognise the team’s remarkable achievement. Interestingly, the reward is roughly $3 million more than the tournament’s overall prize pool of $11.25 million.

In a statement, the board congratulated the players, support staff and selectors for their historic accomplishment and wished them continued success in the future.

This is not the first time the BCCI has announced large incentives for its teams. Last year, the board awarded a $6.72 million bonus to India after they won the ICC Champions Trophy.

Following the win, India captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team’s next major goal is winning a gold medal at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
