Abu Dhabi has announced the addition of two new gates to its Darb toll system as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion across major roads. The decision, confirmed on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, reflects the capital’s ongoing focus on strengthening transport infrastructure and making road travel more efficient.
The new toll gates will be located on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street in Ghantoot and on Wahat Al Karama Street at the entrance and exit of Sheikh Zayed Street. They will be named Ghantoot Toll Gate and Al Qurm Toll Gate, and both will operate 24 hours a day from May 4, 2026.
Authorities said the expansion is aimed at easing pressure on existing entry points and improving the overall driving experience for commuters travelling within and outside Abu Dhabi. The Darb system already helps regulate traffic on key routes, and this step is expected to further support smoother movement across the capital.
