Actor Deepika Padukone will not be part of Season 4 of HBO’s series The White Lotus after discussions with the show’s producers did not progress.
Reports said Padukone had been in talks with the makers of the hit anthology drama, which is created by Mike White. However, the project requires every actor to go through a formal audition process as part of its casting policy.
Sources cited in industry reports said Padukone was not comfortable participating in auditions. Because of this requirement, the talks did not move forward and she will not be joining the upcoming season.
This is not the first time Padukone’s name has been linked with the series. She was reportedly approached earlier as well, but those discussions did not move ahead because she was pregnant at the time.
The series is known for featuring a new ensemble cast in each season and for filming its stories in luxury resort locations around the world. Casting for the fourth season is still ongoing as the project remains in development.
If she had joined, it would have marked another international project for Padukone, whose last major Hollywood role was in xXx: Return of Xander Cage released in 2017.
