Dubai’s education sector is set to temporarily transition to remote learning, with all private schools, nurseries, and higher education institutions moving online from May 5 to May 8, 2026. The directive was issued by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the wider community.

Schools across Dubai have been instructed to activate their distance learning systems and maintain continuity in both teaching and administrative operations during this period. The move aligns with a nationwide decision by the Ministry of Education, which has implemented similar measures across the UAE.

Authorities have emphasised that the step is precautionary, with the situation to be reviewed on May 8. Depending on developments, remote learning may be extended if required. The swift transition highlights the readiness of educational institutions to adapt to changing circumstances while ensuring minimal disruption to academic schedules.

The announcement has been widely discussed on 89.1 Radio 4, the UAE’s number one radio station, with updates reaching audiences across Dubai and other emirates. As families adjust to the temporary shift, the focus remains on maintaining stability in education while prioritising health and safety across the country.
