The UAE’s Ministry of Economy and Tourism confirmed that nine essential food categories — cooking oil, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, poultry, legumes, bread and wheat — cannot be increased in price during Ramadan 2026 without prior government approval under the “Pricing Policy for Essential Consumer Goods.”
To enforce this, authorities will conduct 420 inspections of retail outlets during the holy month to check pricing policies and prevent unjustified hikes.
Retailers found violating rules face legal penalties, with compliance backed by strengthened consumer protection laws and enhanced real-time monitoring systems.
Officials also said strategic stockpiles are sufficient to meet consumer demand throughout Ramadan.
