Bollywood actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is set to appear in one of Hollywood’s most ambitious music biopics yet, a four film series on The Beatles backed by Sony Pictures and directed by Oscar winner Sam Mendes. The project will tell the story of the iconic British band through four separate but interconnected films, each presented from the perspective of one member. The global theatrical release is planned for 2028.
Akhtar will portray Ravi Shankar, the legendary Indian classical musician whose collaboration and friendship with George Harrison played a key role in introducing Indian sounds and spirituality into Western popular music during the 1960s.
The main cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, bringing together a high profile ensemble for the landmark series.
