A Portuguese cabin crew member in Dubai lost her life savings of nearly Dh200,000 to phone scammers after an exhausted state led her to pick up an unknown call. The scammers falsely claimed she won Dh150,000 in collaboration with Emirates NBD bank and a UAE exchange house. Coercing her into updating her bank app, they tricked her into revealing login details. Despite exhaustion, the scammers kept her occupied, preventing her from noticing bank notifications during the 15-minute call.
