Business owners across Dubai have once again been reminded to comply with updated storefront signage regulations introduced under the city’s urban beautification drive.

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Civility Committee said all commercial outlets must follow specific rules outlined in the Outdoor Advertising Manual launched in 2024. The initiative aims to maintain Dubai’s reputation as one of the world’s most visually refined cities.

Under the new Dubai signage rules, businesses are only allowed to display one trade name on a storefront. Vertical signboards are not permitted, and all signs must appear horizontally with Arabic text placed above English translations.

Authorities also stated that sign dimensions must remain proportionate to the storefront, while animated visuals, moving content, and overly bright white backgrounds are prohibited. Businesses are additionally banned from placing trade signs on balconies or upper floor facades.

The regulations are being monitored by DET through inspections and permit approvals to ensure compliance across commercial districts in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain, where discussions around urban aesthetics and smart city standards continue to grow.
