Team India faces a major blow after Shikhar Dhawan’s thumb injury which has ruled him out of the World Cup for three weeks.
Dhawan suffered this injury while facing Pat Cummins bouncer in the first innings in spite of which he continued batting fearlessly and scored a match-winning 117 against Australia. He did not field in the second innings due to this injury.
Shikhar Dhawan went through multiple scans on Monday after which it was confirmed that he has a thumb fracture and will not be able to play the next few games.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are being considered to replace the opener in the next few games. The final decision hasn’t been announced yet.
