Dubai has unveiled a 15-kilometre Dubai Autonomous Zone (DAZ), integrating seven self-driving modes of transport, including the driverless Metro, RoboTaxis, RoboBuses, autonomous abras, shuttles, logistics vehicles, and street sweepers. Located around Creek Metro Station, the zone connects Al Jaddaf, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City. The initiative, revealed at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, supports Dubai’s vision of making 25% of transport smart and driverless by 2030. RoboTaxis will launch in early 2026, followed by other autonomous services, with full operations expected by mid-2027 before expanding to other areas. Three global companies are partnering with RTA.
