Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will introduce the V2X smart traffic system between 2027 and 2028, linking around 620 intersections directly to vehicle dashboards. The system will provide real-time updates such as signal timings, congestion, and accidents, reducing driver distraction and improving safety. Using AI, digital twin, and ITS-C technologies, it will optimise traffic flow and allow simulation of various scenarios before real-world application. While new cars will have built-in connectivity, older vehicles can access the system via CarPlay or Android Auto. Future phases will enable vehicle-to-vehicle communication to warn drivers about slowdowns or obstacles ahead.
