At a meeting in Nyon, Switzerland on December 3, 2025, the governing body UEFA awarded hosting rights for the 2029 Women’s European Championship to Germany national women’s football team / Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB). Germany beat out competing bids from Poland and a joint Denmark-Sweden offer. The tournament will feature 16 teams competing across eight German cities including Munich, Dortmund, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Leipzig and Wolfsburg. UEFA said the decision reflects confidence in Germany’s stadium infrastructure and plans to elevate women’s football across Europe through record attendances and high-level organisation.
