Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has showered praise on Jammu and Kashmir pacer Aquib Nabi for his sensational performances in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, calling him “absolutely special.” Nabi played a decisive role in guiding J&K to their first-ever Ranji final, delivering a stunning nine-wicket haul in the semifinal against Bengal. His effort outshone even senior India pacer Mohammed Shami, who picked up 8/90 in the same match.

Pathan, speaking on his YouTube channel, described Nabi as a “diesel engine” — a bowler who may take time to warm up but becomes unstoppable once he finds rhythm. Known for his stamina and ability to bowl long spells without fatigue, Nabi’s straight seam generates late movement, troubling batters consistently.

The 24-year-old has been remarkable this season, claiming 55 wickets in nine matches at an average of 12.72, including six five-wicket hauls. He has also contributed 243 runs with the bat, underlining his all-round value. Pathan believes Nabi’s growth and consistency make him ready for the highest level, including Test cricket.
