Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has awarded the Phase II contract for the major upgrade of Hessa Street, one of the city’s busiest corridors. The 3km expansion between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will double capacity from 4,000 to 8,000 vehicles per hour in each direction, reducing journey times from 24 minutes to just five. Serving nearly 650,000 residents across communities including JVC and Al Barsha South, the project features 8,835 metres of bridges, a 480-metre tunnel, multilevel interchanges, and upgraded intersections.Aligned with Dubai’s sustainable mobility vision, it also adds a 10.4km cycling and e-scooter track linking Dubai Hills and Dubai Motor City. Phase I is set for completion in early 2026.
