The United Arab Emirates has announced the extension of distance learning across all schools and universities for two weeks following the spring break, as part of precautionary measures to ensure student safety and continuity in education.

The spring break is scheduled from March 9 to March 22, with in person classes originally set to resume on March 23. Under the new directive, students will instead continue their studies online until approximately April 5, with authorities confirming that the situation will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

The decision comes after earlier disruptions linked to regional tensions, with officials prioritising the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers, and administrative staff. Schools and universities have been instructed to maintain full academic schedules through digital platforms to ensure that learning outcomes are not affected.

In addition, some parents employed in federal government entities have been granted flexible remote working arrangements, particularly those who are primary caregivers of young children. This measure is intended to support families managing home based learning.

Authorities said the move reflects the UAE’s ability to adapt quickly through digital education systems, while ensuring that academic progress continues smoothly during temporary disruptions.
