Bangladesh Sports Minister Aminul Haque announced plans to consult the International Cricket Council before deciding on the future of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The move follows allegations of irregularities and interference during last year’s BCB elections. A five-member committee formed on March 11 is expected to submit its findings within 15 working days.
Haque, a former national football captain, emphasized the need for a neutral investigation, which will involve speaking with BCB election commissioners, board officials, district administrators, and councillors. Meanwhile, Haque plans a second committee to probe Bangladesh’s absence from the men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. After security concerns led the ICC to replace Bangladesh with Scotland, the investigation will examine why the country could not participate and how sports diplomacy can be strengthened to avoid future setbacks.
