Dubai is planning a new law that could make parents responsible if their children misuse electric scooters. The proposal, shared by Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei from Dubai Police, aims to improve road safety as e scooters become more common.
Under the draft law, parents could face legal action if their children use scooters dangerously or cause harm. Authorities say some scooters are being modified to reach very high speeds, making them unsafe, especially for minors.
Another key proposal is mandatory registration and number plates for all e scooters. This will help track vehicles and prevent misuse, including illegal activities.
The move comes after a sharp rise in violations. Thousands of fines have already been issued, and many scooters have been confiscated during safety campaigns.
Officials believe this law will encourage responsible use, better parenting awareness, and safer roads for everyone. It also shows how seriously Dubai is taking the growing risks of micro mobility on its streets.
