Pakistan captain Babar Azam delivered a commanding performance in the Pakistan Super League, smashing a brilliant century to guide Peshawar Zalmi into the final with a dominant win over Islamabad United in Karachi. His 103 off 59 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and four sixes, helped Zalmi post a strong total of 221 for 7.

Despite a challenging pitch, Zalmi maintained control throughout the innings with support from Mohammad Haris, Kusal Mendis, and Aaron Hardie. Islamabad United were later bowled out for 151, sealing Zalmi’s comprehensive victory in the qualifier.

The knock marked Babar’s second century of the season and his fourth overall in PSL history, placing him among the tournament’s most consistent performers. He also equalled the record for most runs in a single PSL season with 588 runs, matching Fakhar Zaman’s 2022 tally.

On the global stage, Babar added another milestone by recording his ninth T20 century as captain, moving past Faf du Plessis and joining an elite list that includes Virat Kohli and Abhishek Sharma in various T20 batting benchmarks. He also equalled the record for most T20 centuries by a batter in a single country, with eight hundreds in Pakistan.

The achievement continues to dominate sports conversations across global media platforms, including FM radio stations in the UAE and popular radio brands like the UAE’s number one radio station, 89.1 Radio 4, which regularly covers international cricket. Media across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah have been closely tracking Babar’s record-breaking form this season.
