Sharjah announces traffic diversions for Al Taawun Tunnel Project from June 13 - 89.1 Radio 4 FM

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced temporary traffic diversions on Al Taawun Street starting June 13 as part of the ongoing Al Taawun Tunnel Development Project. The partial closure has been introduced to support construction work at the existing Al Taawun roundabout and improve long term traffic flow between Sharjah and Dubai.

Under the new traffic plan, vehicles heading towards Dubai and Al Nahda Bridge will be redirected via Al Corniche Street. In contrast, traffic coming from Al Nahda Bridge towards Sharjah will be shifted to the newly developed Al Taawun Street to ensure smoother movement during the construction phase.

Authorities said the diversion is part of wider efforts to enhance road network efficiency and reduce congestion in one of the emirate’s busiest corridors. The project is expected to improve mobility and ease daily commuting once completed.

Motorists have been advised to follow road signage carefully, use designated alternative routes, and comply with traffic instructions to avoid delays and ensure safety. Officials also urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance during the construction period.

The development forms part of Sharjah’s broader infrastructure upgrade strategy aimed at improving connectivity between key residential and commercial areas while supporting smoother inter emirate travel.
