Music composer Pritam recently found himself at the centre of retirement rumours after a social media post led fans to believe he might be stepping away from Bollywood. The speculation grew stronger following Arijit Singh’s earlier announcement about stepping back from playback singing, causing confusion online.
However, reports have now clarified that Pritam is not retiring from the music industry.
The confusion began after Pritam shared a heartfelt birthday message on Instagram, where he spoke about giving himself “a few years to live life differently” and exploring “new journeys” that he had kept on hold. While the note sounded reflective and emotional, it was misinterpreted by many fans as a farewell to Bollywood music.
A source later confirmed that Pritam will continue working in the industry and has no plans to exit music. The statement clarified that he is simply looking to explore other creative interests alongside his mainstream work, rather than quitting composition altogether.
The clarification comes shortly after Arijit Singh’s own announcement, where the singer said he would no longer take new playback singing assignments but would continue working on independent music projects.
Together, the two posts sparked widespread speculation, but both artists remain active in their respective musical journeys.
