Dubai has launched the Middle East’s first beach-side sensory room at Jumeirah Beach 2, offering a safe, calming and inclusive environment for visitors with autism and sensory sensitivities.
The new air-conditioned facility is designed with soft lighting, quiet surroundings and soothing sensory elements to help visitors regulate their emotions before, during or after spending time at the beach. The initiative aims to make Dubai’s public beaches more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
As part of the wider accessibility upgrades, Jumeirah Beach 2 now also features wheelchair-friendly pathways, floating beach wheelchairs and dedicated swimming platforms for People of Determination, ensuring easier access to the beach and sea.
Beach staff have undergone specialised training to support visitors with sensory and mobility needs, helping provide a more comfortable and inclusive experience for families and individuals.
The accessibility enhancements have earned Jumeirah Beach 2 a Gold Accessibility Certification from the World Disability Union, highlighting Dubai’s continued efforts to improve public spaces and strengthen its position as one of the world’s most inclusive and accessible cities.
