Dubai residents and visitors can now book a driverless taxi for a flat fare of Dh5 in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, following the commercial launch of the autonomous taxi service by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The service is operated in partnership with Apollo Go, Baidu's autonomous ride hailing platform, and is currently available through the Apollo Go mobile app. The rides were previously offered free of charge during the public trial phase.
Passengers can book a journey by downloading the Apollo Go app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and requesting a ride within the designated service areas. The RTA said booking will also be extended to Bolt and other ride hailing platforms as the network expands.
The autonomous taxi programme is managed by Dubai Taxi Company in partnership with Baidu, marking the first international deployment of the Apollo Go app outside China.
Dubai Taxi Company plans to deploy 50 driverless vehicles during the first year, with the fleet expected to grow to more than 1,000 autonomous taxis over the coming years.
The commercial rollout follows months of testing focused on vehicle safety, reliability and operational performance. In January 2026, Apollo Go became the first company to receive a Dubai permit to test fully autonomous vehicles without a safety driver, while also launching Apollo Go Park to support fleet operations.
The initiative supports the Dubai Self Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to make 25 percent of all journeys in Dubai autonomous by 2030.
Globally, Apollo Go has completed more than 20 million rides and covered over 300 million autonomous kilometres, including more than 190 million kilometres without a safety driver.
