Travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is about to get a new option, as Etihad Rail opens its Dubai passenger station on September 30, 2026.
The new Dubai Al Yalayis Station, located near Jumeirah Golf Estates, will connect Dubai to the UAE’s growing national passenger rail network.
The journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is expected to take around 57 minutes, offering residents a convenient alternative to driving between the two emirates.
Etihad Rail began passenger services between Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on June 30. The next phase will see Dubai Al Yalayis Station and Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah open on September 30.
The Dubai station is also expected to connect passengers with other public transport options, including the Dubai Metro, buses and taxis.
Etihad Rail’s passenger network will eventually connect 11 cities and areas across the UAE, with trains capable of travelling at speeds of up to 200km/h and carrying around 400 passengers.
Further stations are scheduled to open in phases, bringing more parts of the country onto the national rail network.
For UAE residents used to travelling between emirates by road, the expanding Etihad Rail network could soon change the way they get around the country.
