Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning to residents about a rise in online fraud and financial scams during salary payment periods, urging people to remain cautious and avoid sharing sensitive personal or banking information.
Authorities said scammers are using various tactics to target victims, including fake property advertisements, fraudulent visa and residency services, fake job offers, labour supply scams, and unauthorised insurance schemes.
Police also highlighted scams involving fake vehicle advertisements claiming to sell cars seized by Abu Dhabi Customs, investment fraud schemes, counterfeit event tickets, and websites impersonating government platforms.
Residents have been warned against downloading unknown remote access applications, making advance payments for goods or services, or transferring deposits for fake training courses, certificates and other fraudulent offers.
Abu Dhabi Police advised residents to use only official government websites and applications when accessing services and reminded them never to share bank account details, passwords or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone.
People who suspect they have been targeted by scammers can report incidents through the Aman service by calling 8002626.
Authorities said staying alert and verifying information before making payments is key to preventing online fraud and protecting personal finances.
