Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a temporary staircase at Exit 1 of the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station to support commuters while expansion work continues at the station.
The temporary facility has been introduced to make passenger movement smoother during construction at the station entrance. The RTA has advised commuters to follow the designated signs and marked pathways, while on-ground staff remain available to assist passengers.
Earlier this month, RTA temporarily closed the station’s bus and taxi service road until the end of 2026 as part of the ongoing expansion project.
Once completed, the upgraded station will see a major increase in passenger capacity. The expansion is expected to raise hourly capacity by 65%, from 7,250 passengers to 12,320 passengers, while the station’s daily handling capacity will increase to around 220,000 passengers.
The redevelopment will include larger platforms, upgraded entrances, additional escalators and lifts, more fare gates, and improved connections with other public transport options.
The project is part of Dubai’s efforts to enhance public transport infrastructure and provide a smoother commuting experience as passenger demand continues to grow.
