Abu Dhabi Maritime has announced stricter enforcement of maritime safety regulations, introducing fines of up to Dh30,000 for violations to improve safety across the emirate’s waterways.

The highest penalty of Dh30,000 will apply to individuals or companies carrying out marine construction or related works without obtaining the required permits.

Other penalties include:

* Dh10,000 fine for operating a vessel without a valid licence
* Dh5,000 fine for causing a marine accident due to negligence
* Dh1,000 fine for failing to properly secure a disabled vessel

The updated enforcement measures are part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to promote responsible boating practices and protect marine users.

Alongside the new fines, Abu Dhabi Maritime has launched an AI-powered Waterways Monitoring and Control Centre designed to monitor marine traffic, strengthen emergency response capabilities and improve overall maritime safety.

Authorities have urged boat owners and operators to follow safety regulations, ensure vessels carry essential safety equipment and obtain all necessary approvals before carrying out marine activities.

The initiative aims to create a safer maritime environment while supporting the continued growth of Abu Dhabi’s marine transport and recreational boating sector.
