Dubai’s public transport network recorded a record 348.1 million passenger trips in the first half of 2026, highlighting the city’s growing reliance on sustainable mobility options.
The network, which includes the Dubai Metro, buses, taxis and shared mobility services, saw an average of 1.9 million daily riders during the six-month period.
The Dubai Metro remained the most popular mode of transport, carrying 136.5 million passengers and accounting for 39.2% of all public transport journeys. It was followed by taxis with 88.9 million passengers and public buses with 85.1 million passengers.
Together, the Metro and bus networks served around 64% of all public transport users in Dubai.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the record figures reflect Dubai’s continued shift towards sustainable transport. Public transport’s share of total mobility increased from 6% in 2006 to 22.3% in 2025.
To meet rising demand, Dubai is expanding its transport infrastructure with major projects, including the 30km Dubai Metro Blue Line, the planned AED34 billion, 42km fully underground Gold Line, and the addition of 637 low-emission buses, including 40 electric buses.
Dubai is also preparing to launch commercial air taxi services before the end of 2026 as part of its future mobility plans.
Among Metro stations, BurJuman recorded the highest passenger traffic with 8.4 million users, followed by Union Station with 6.5 million passengers.
The latest figures underline Dubai’s efforts to build an integrated transport system that offers residents and visitors faster, cleaner and more connected travel options.
