Veteran singer Alka Yagnik has expressed deep gratitude after personally receiving the Padma Bhushan, calling the moment “emotional” and “not easy” following a long health battle.

The award comes after nearly two years away from the public eye due to health challenges, including a rare sensorineural hearing condition that she revealed in 2024. Despite her absence from public appearances, she said the love and support from fans kept her going through a difficult phase.

Alka Yagnik shared that attending the ceremony was important not just for her, but for her listeners who have supported her across decades. She described the honour as a reminder of resilience, patience, and the value of perseverance.

She added that she is “slowly finding her way back,” expressing hope and gratitude for being recognised at a time when she is still recovering.
