Cristiano Ronaldo backed UD Almeria have completed the permanent signing of Portuguese midfielder Andre Horta from SC Braga, continuing the club's busy summer transfer window ahead of the 2026–27 season.
The Spanish Segunda Division club activated the purchase option in Horta's loan agreement after his spell during the 2025–26 season. The 29 year old has signed a three year contract that will keep him at Almeria until June 2029.
Horta made 20 appearances for Almeria during his loan spell despite an injury interrupted campaign, with the club impressed enough to secure his services permanently.
The signing comes after Cristiano Ronaldo acquired a 25 percent stake in Almeria earlier this year. Since the Portuguese superstar became involved with the club, Almeria have strengthened their squad with several new arrivals as they target promotion back to La Liga.
Andre Horta becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer, joining Brian Cipenga, Miguel de la Fuente, Jorge Pulido, Quim Junyent, Leo Baptistao and Alex Sola.
In announcing the transfer, Almeria highlighted Horta's experience in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, as well as his 16 senior appearances for Benfica. The midfielder is known for his composure in central midfield and his ability to play in a deeper defensive role.
While Ronaldo continues to captain Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, he is also playing an active role in shaping Almeria's future as the club aims to secure promotion to Spain's top flight.
