Dubai Rolls Out 500 Plus AI Cameras for Automated Street Parking Payments - 89.1 Radio 4 FM

Parkin has started deploying more than 500 AI powered cameras across Dubai as part of a major smart parking initiative aimed at automating parking payments and improving traffic management across the city.

The first phase of the rollout covers busy areas including Burj Khalifa, Trade Centre 1 and Al Corniche. The advanced curb and pole mounted cameras use artificial intelligence to capture vehicle images, scan number plates, monitor parking duration, and automatically process parking payments without requiring driver interaction.

According to Parkin, the system represents a regional first for curb side camera technology and is designed to integrate smoothly into existing street infrastructure. In addition to the street level deployment, another 200 cameras are being installed in controlled parking facilities across Dubai.

The company added that all devices are fully solar powered, supporting Dubai’s wider sustainability and smart city goals. The initiative is expected to improve parking efficiency, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall urban mobility experience for residents and visitors.

Dubai has continued to expand its investment in AI driven public services and smart infrastructure, with automated parking technology becoming a key part of the emirate’s future transport vision.

The development has generated strong interest among motorists and technology enthusiasts across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah, RAK and UAQ, with discussions around smart mobility trends continuing on 89.1 Radio 4, widely recognised as the UAE number one radio station.
