Dubai to resume school quality checks from 2026–27 to boost education standards - 89.1 Radio 4 FM

Dubai’s education regulator has announced the return of school quality assurance visits for private schools starting from the 2026–27 academic year, marking a renewed push to strengthen oversight and improve learning outcomes across the emirate.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said the revived programme will focus on supporting school improvement while building stronger confidence among parents. Schools will now undergo either a full inspection or shorter monitoring visits depending on their profile and requirements, replacing the earlier one size fits all model.

A major change in the updated framework is the introduction of short notice visits, usually within 24 hours. This is intended to provide a more accurate picture of daily classroom life and teaching quality.

The inspections had been paused for two academic years, with only newly established schools still receiving evaluations during that period. Even without full inspections, KHDA continued monitoring through self assessment reports, data reviews and regular engagement with schools.

Officials said the renewed system aligns with Dubai’s long term Education 33 strategy, which aims to place students at the centre of reforms and enhance overall education quality. The initiative also supports wider development goals linked to the Dubai Plan 2033 and social advancement strategies.

Authorities believe the return of inspections will help raise standards, ensure accountability, and further strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global education hub.
