India strengthened their push for a semifinal spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with a five-wicket win over Bangladesh at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Opener Shafali Verma led the chase with a fluent 53 off 34 balls, helping India reach the target of 137 inside 17 overs. Her aggressive knock earned her the Player of the Match award as India kept their qualification hopes alive.

With Australia already unbeaten in Group A, India and South Africa are now locked in a tight battle for the second semifinal spot. Both teams sit on six points, with India holding a slightly better net run rate ahead of their crucial clash against Australia at Lord’s.

South Africa also registered a dominant win over the Netherlands, powered by a century from Tazmin Brits, keeping the group stage race finely balanced heading into the final fixtures.

India will now look to tighten their fielding and maintain momentum as the tournament heads into its decisive phase.
