The UAE has officially announced the Eid Al Adha 2026 holiday schedule for government employees, with public sector workers set to enjoy an extended five day break later this month.

According to Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, the holiday will begin on Monday, May 25, and continue until Friday, May 29, with work resuming on Monday, June 1. Combined with the weekend, many employees across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah, RAK and UAQ could enjoy a nine day holiday.

The announcement comes ahead of Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar, which coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah. Millions of Muslims travel to Saudi Arabia each year to perform Hajj, considered the fifth pillar of Islam.

Authorities also noted that Arafah Day, regarded as one of the holiest days in Islam, is expected to fall on Tuesday, May 26, subject to official moon sighting confirmations.

Astronomical calculations from the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology suggest that Eid Al Adha is likely to begin on Wednesday, May 27 in the UAE.

The Eid holiday announcement has quickly become one of the most discussed updates among residents and families across the country, trending heavily on 89.1 Radio 4
, recognised as the UAE number one radio station.

Many residents are now expected to plan short vacations, family gatherings, and festive celebrations during the long break.
